While the “rough sex” claims as a defence to violence are rarely seen in cases involving older victims, the sexual abuse of women, girls, and men, whatever their age or background is a key problem.

However, sexual abuse, rape, and sexual assault are often overlooked in older people, and fall outside the traditional stereotypes normally associated with sexual violence.
